The Right Metric?

What if clicks aren't the right metric? What if income isn't the right metric? What if maximizing our profits isn't the right goal?

The road of surviving self-employment is a dangerous one. And on that road clicks can mean income. Income can mean survival. And maximizing our profits often fools us into thinking that we've somehow cheated death. But in that scenario are we really creating something worth remembering? Or are we racing to the bottom in our fight for survival?

In the words of Seth Godin:

"Making your numbers go up (any numbers–your bmi, your blood sugar, your customer service ratings) is pointless if the numbers aren't related to why you went to work this morning."

Figure out your "Why" first and then check your metrics.
