Some time ago my wife had read about a social experiment where a group of scientists had separated a group of volunteers into two groups. In the first group, the volunteers had been asked to create a piece of artwork and do it over and over again in a quantitive way. In the second group, the volunteers had been asked to simply make the best piece of artwork they could as a group focusing on perfecting their one piece. What they came to find was that the group who focused on quantity rather than quality had actually produced a more perfect piece of art.
We can spend a lifetime writing the one perfect song. Or we can simply let the floodgates open and create and create over and over. Follow the road of quantity and you'll find quality.
